ZIS Computer Centre -A model on how technology can be used to improve life
at rural settings
This is a technology education development project that will provide employable skill training to youths
within rural communities of okitipupa local government area of ondo state in Nigeria.
The project will train youth to manage local resources.
The project will be administered in collaboration with Zebulon International School a community - focused
private school.
OBJECTIVES
Operate a computer centre as a sustainable venture that is self-funding.
Provide skills to increase employment, use technology training and services to reduce unemployment among
youth.
Research the integration and application of technology in primary and secondary education.
OPERATIONS
ZIS Computer Centre will train youths who will manage computer information centres or work as resource
officers of our proposed mobile computer/library programs for rural schools.
The centre will operate multimedia equipments computers, projectors, DVD players, Digital Cameras and printers
run application programs and educational software in categories such as; educational (English, Mathematics, Science etc);Digital
Audio recording and editing, digital photography, DVD/ CD authoring and editing.
Providing access to the internet, the centre will be a community
information and communication Centre offering, cellular phone services, internet telephony, email, internet browsing, web
hosting of sites on culture and environment thus showcasing the use of technology for sustainable development at a rural setting
in Nigeria.
BUSINESS SERVICES
Computer typesetting, printing and photocopying, digital photography, DVD /CD burning, scanning, laminating,
internet browsing, email, internet phone and cellular phone call centres, cellular charging and phone calling card sales.
TRAINING SERVICES
Computer Application, File Management Digital Photography, Video Editing and DVD/CD Authoring,
Internet, web Designing, Computer Based Learnimg, Computer Instruction Certification.The centre will operate with 6 staff and train 10 Youth
every 9 months. Trainees with exemplary performances may be asked to join the centre`s operating staff. Placement through our Community Information Centres
or Mobile Library Program. Both program will be equal opportunity accessibilty thus encouraging women in technology.
The only prerequisite for acceptance into the training
program will be high school education and being able to read and write.
PRESENT SITUATION
Osooro in the Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State in Nigeria comprises of many large towns, villages
and hamlets. There are no telephone lines but GSM telephones are now widely use with limited charging facility. although there
is grid eletricity, the power supply is sporadic as there constant power interruption. There is no internet connectivity service and no computer training
facility within Osooro region.
There are six high schools with an average enrollment of 1500 students. Majority of youths are unemployable
as they lack marketable skills. There is no post secondary institution in the local government area thus youths have to travel out of the
region to attend higher institutions. They usually do not return to contribute to the local economy due to high unemployment
rate.

the life of people at a rural setting.

About Zebulon International School (ZIS)
ZIS was established to enhance the quality of education in rural community of Ondo State, Nigeria. Since
its inception, the school had been providing alternative primary education with creative arts and computer education.
Our goal is to provide services that will help communities with the application of technology at a rural setting.
ZIS Computer Centre intend to train youths who will
continue to use computer to create reading books and workbooks while administering computer education in both primary and
secondary schools within Osooro region in Okitipupa Local Government, Ondo State, Nigeria.
